At the Waugh Woodshop, custom woodworking is my passion.  I love designing one-of-a-kind pieces, recreating unique items from the past, and representing the third generation of “handywomen” in my family.
From an early age, I knew I loved woodworking.  I dabbled in bird houses, a toolbox, and even convinced my Dad that our model horses simply HAD to have a balsa wood stable that I designed (sorry Dad!).  As time went on, I put my passion aside until rediscovering it a few years ago when a former Canadian big-box store wouldn’t ship me the cabinet I wanted.  I decided to make it myself, thinking that the worst thing that could happen was that I’d have a lot of wood to throw on the fireplace come winter.
It turned out okay, and since then I’ve been making various items for friends and family, before taking the plunge in 2016 to go ‘public’.  It’s hopefully an adventure I’ll enjoy for many years to come.

“When you buy something from an artisan, you’re buying more than an object.  You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation.  You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy.  You’re not just buying a thing, you’re buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul… you’re buying a small piece of someone else’s life.”
